New National Development Manager at the WHU
The Welsh Hockey Union is delighted to announce that Helen Bushell will be taking up the role of National Development Manager (Clubs & Young People) on 13th July.
Helen arrives with more than 12 years sports development experience in local authority, National Governing Body and private consultancy environments. A qualified level 2 hockey and netball coach and a level 3 internal verifier and assessor, Helen’s expertise in team and project management will enable her to maintain the momentum in the critical area of increasing access to hockey in Wales
She takes over the reigns from Matt James who, since his arrival in March 2007, has had a significant and very positive impact on grass roots hockey, working with unitary authorities, development officers, clubs and schools nationwide. His work in setting up Performance Development Centres and the Accreditation Scheme are notable successes. Matt leaves to work closer to home but remains in a sports related job and will undoubtedly stay in contact with his hockey roots. Look out for his cycle tour of North Wales next month!
