Wales so close!

Wales 0 Ireland 1, and it was closer than that. The Welsh boys started brightly having a great first 15 minutes but unable to convert the pressure and their 3 penalty corners into goals. In contrast Ireland scored from their only short corner to go in one up at half time. The Welsh worked exceptionally hard in the second half matching Ireland stride for stride, creating some half chances but it was not until the 66th minute that the first penalty corner in the half to Wales which they failed to convert. This was a really tough game but Wales now have to pick themselves up for the important play off for bronze spot against Czech Republic (who lost their semi 4-1) on Saturday at 2.30. This will be followed by the final between Russia and Ireland, both of whom have now qualified for the European Championship in 2011.
Still, hockey has achieved national TV coverage on S4C and ITV and live coverage on BBC.
