Whitchurch slip to third
Whitchurch fell to a disappointing 3-2 defeat at Old Georgians in their final EHL match before the mid-season break. Whitchurch opened well, creating several goal scoring chances early on and Rhys Gowman gave them the lead early in the half following a fast break and good passing from midfield. Whitchurch maintained the pressure but Old Georgians equalised from a penalty corner ten minutes from the break. A minute before half time Laith El Khatib restored Whitchurch's lead, deflecting home a cross from the left wing. In deteriorating weather conditions the tempo of the game dropped in the second period and Whitchurch failed to convert a number of chances to extend their lead. Old Georgians took the initiative ten minutes from the end, equalising from a penalty corner and then firing home the winner from open play two minutes later.
