WHU Roadshows
Following last years successful Roadshows WHU will be coming to a venue near you on the following dates:
10th Sept St Clears
Sports Centre
15th Sept Northop Hall HC
16th Sept Caernarfon Sports Centre
22nd Sept Llandrindod Wells Sports Centre
29th Sept WIS, Cardiff
The Roadshows will start at 19:00 and all WHU members are invited to attend.
Amongst the items for discussion will be the WHU strategy for 2009/13 and WHU National competitions for 2008/9.

Robinson scoops Player of the League Award
Sophie Robinson, Wales Senior International, has been awarded the Player of the League Award for the England Hockey League North Division Two for the 2007/2008 season.

Young Welsh Umpires Impress at UK Schools Games
The WHUA and WHU’s new young umpire development programme started to bear fruit at last month’s UK School Games in Bath/ Bristol, when 5 members of this fast track development programme acquitted themselves very well.

Irish Internationals
Wales recorded a double over Ireland with the Men winning 3-2 and
the Women 2-1. A penalty corner from Huw Jones on the stroke of half time
preceded two goals from the visitor's Jason Lynch before a brace from Olly
Cooper saw the Men home. The Women also took a lead into half time through
Captain Carys Hopkins before Michele Harvey drew level with a penalty
corner. Alys Brookes scored the winning goal with 11' remaining.
In Sunday's matches Wales Men drew 2-2 (goals from Olly Cooper and Huw Jones) with the Women going down 4-5 (goals from Dawn Mitchell, Beth Fisher, Carys Hopkins and Sophie Robinson)

Welsh Umpires receive FIH Umpiring Gradings
The WHU and WHUA are delighted to announce that Jaime Hindle has
been awarded his FIH badge and Will Drury has been promoted to the FIH's
Promising Outdoor Umpire Grade 1 list. Our congratulations to both members.

UK School Games Starts today!
Wales U-18 Boys and Girls start their campaigns today with all matches to
be played at the University of West of England, Bristol.

WHU Golf day
As a forerunner to the International weekend over 6th & 7th September, the WHU has organised a golf day for the afternoon of 5th September at Llanishen GC, Cardiff.

Beth's got tickets for the last group matches and semi-finals in the hockey and is keeping her fingers crossed that she'll be watching a GB team!

Organise a Club Development Day and receive £200 towards it!
Thanks to support from Prudential Assurance and Sportsmatch Cymru, the WHU are able to grant each successful applicant (club) £200 towards the costs of staging a “Development Day.”

U-18 Four Nations Tournament
Ireland Boys and Scotland Girls took the honours in the tournament with
Ireland beating England 2-1 and Scotland beating the same opponents 3-0 on
penalty strokes after the match finished 0-0. Wales Boys beat Scotland 2-1
to take 3rd place whilst Ireland Girls overcame Wales 4-1 to leave the hosts
in 4th place.

U-18 Four Nations Tournament
Both
England squads qualified for the final play-offs in 1st place following
victories over Scotland by 5-2 (Boys) and 1-0 (Girls). They will play
Ireland in the Boys final and Scotland in the Girls following Ireland's
defeat of the Welsh teams by the identical scoreline of 3-1. Both Welsh
teams will be out to prove a point in their final matches tomorrow so as to
finish the tournament on a high.

U-18 Four Nations Tournament
England's Girls continued their high scoring in beating Ireland 6-1 although
their Boys drew their match 2-2. The all Celtic clash saw Wales Boys come
out on top with a narrow 2-1 victory against Scotland although the Scots
Girls proved too strong for the hosts with a crushing 8-1 win.

England showed their mettle in yesterdays clashes with Wales with their
Girls winning 4-0 and their Boys 1-0 although Wales ran them close in the
latter encounter. In the other matches Scotland Girls beat their Irish
opponents 2-0 whilst the Boys result went to Ireland 2-1.
