This Page is available to  all clubs affiliated to the Welsh Hockey Union to enable them to publish specific news items about their club and their players.   It is not intended solely as a means of advertising for clubs, e.g. "Anytown HC is a fine club, come and play for Anytown Hockey Club, ring John Doe 01234-1234-1234".   Clubs will have to advertise on their own Web Site.  Items will be removed once they are considered to be "not current".   Club contact information is detailed in the Club Directory Pages.

Ground Rules:

  1. The submissions should be succinct and objective.

  1. The submissions should ideally be via email, with the report as part of the email message, or, preferably, as an attachment in again preferably Microsoft Word Format. (I can accommodate a number of other agreed formats). This eliminates the need for any re-typing, I do not have the time.

  1. You could submit your article via fax, however this must be done from an original, good typed copy.  I can scan in a good fax copy, but beware most fax machines send very poor copies due to low specification and poor maintenance.

  1. You could submit an original typed copy of your article, which I can scan.

  1. I reserve the right to edit all submissions, any unsuitable or offensive material will be removed.  Any excessive and unnecessary subjectivity will be toned down.

Wrexham HC

18/10/2004

Clwb Hoci Wrexham Hockey Club

It is with deep regret that we have to announce the death of Rob Charmley a longstanding member of Wrexham Hockey Club. Until very recently Rob had been Chairman of Wrexham Hockey Club for eighteen months. He would have continued in that role but for a serous illness that ended his life this week rather more suddenly than was expected.

Rob had spent many years on the WHU Management Committee while he was also a player for Wrexham Hockey Club. He then retired from playing and Committees, but he always kept in touch. More recently he asked if he could be of help and it wasn't too long before he accepted the role of Chairman again. He was just getting to know the newer members when he was struck down with this illness.

We shall remember Rob as a gentleman who had presence, who listened to all viewpoints, and worked hard at tasks others would shy away from. In short one would suggest that he was a shining example of the ideal volunteer.

Our condolences go to all his relatives.

Mary Bainbridge
Hon. Secretary

Whitchurch HC

14/10/2004

Can I, on behalf of the Whitchurch Hockey Club, thank our hockey colleagues for their attendance at our first home National League match on 3rd October. A burst of three goals in thirteen minutes midway through the second half gave Whitchurch an improbable but deserved 3-2 win in a thrilling match against Indian Gymkhana in Premier 3 of the English Hockey League. The win was in no small way due to the vociferous support provided by the spectators so thank you for it.

My purpose of writing to you is to publicise our future home match dates (at the Welsh Institute of Sport) and to extend the invitation to watch some of the top class teams in action. We, Whitchurch, are learning considerably from their tactical and strategic hockey awareness and want to share that opportunity with as many people as possible for the benefit of Welsh Hockey. Could I ask you to forward this communication through your internal email networks and other communication systems in case any of your members wish to take up this opportunity?
