Welsh Hockey Union
Officials spirits are soaring high thanks to a record-breaking
sponsorship deal that has been secured with Royal Air Force
Careers.
The Welsh Hockey
Union has secured a three-year extension to an eight-year
arrangement with RAF Careers, which provides the Welsh Hockey
Union with funding and personnel support to run junior
competitions and hockey camps throughout Wales. The three-year
extension makes RAF Careers Welsh Hockey’s longest standing
sponsor.
Mike Bull, Chief
Executive of the Welsh Hockey Union, said: “We are delighted to
have secured an extension to the longstanding partnership that
we have with RAF Careers and hope to build on the foundations
put in place in previous years to deliver a competition
structure in Wales that provides appropriate competition at all
levels. The partnership is much more than just hard cash, RAF
Careers provide us with team building support, venues for our
youth hockey camps, Youth Hockey Activator training, careers
advice and on many occasions event organisational support”.
Air Commodore Mike
Barter, the RAF’s Director of Recruiting, said: “We are
delighted to be involved at grassroots level and look forward to
assisting in the development of talent and teamwork within Welsh
youth hockey.
The RAF, who also
currently sponsor youth basketball, and English schools
football, looks forward to providing support to a programme
designed to significantly improve the quality of youth hockey.
Within the RAF we are
extremely supportive of personnel who pursue sporting interests
whether they compete at local or international level. Through
engagement in youth hockey we aim to raise general awareness of
the RAF and the exciting and rewarding career opportunities
within the Service”.
