Field Players Wearing Protective Headgear
Continued from 'home' page...

Welsh Hockey Union announced, on 9th May, that they have revised the ruling regarding outfield players wearing protective headgear at penalty corners. Their statement is as follows:

Welsh Hockey has confirmed today, 9th May 2006 that it is to immediately withdraw the temporary ruling that permitted field players to wear protective goalkeeper style helmets while standing on the goal-line defending penalty corners.

The only protective headgear permitted shall be the fitted face mask as endorsed by the FIH.

There is to be an amendment to the equipment rule in the indoor and outdoor hockey rules scheduled to be introduced on 1st January 2007.
