Wearing Protective Headgear

Welsh Hockey Union announced, on 9th May,
that they have revised the ruling regarding
outfield players wearing protective headgear at
penalty corners. Their statement is as follows:
Welsh Hockey has confirmed today, 9th May
2006 that it is to immediately withdraw the
temporary ruling that permitted field players
to wear protective goalkeeper style helmets
while standing on the goal-line defending
penalty corners.
The only protective headgear permitted shall
be the fitted face mask as endorsed by the FIH.
There is to be an amendment to the equipment
rule in the indoor and outdoor hockey rules
scheduled to be introduced on 1st January 2007.
