EuroHockey Cup Winners Challenge (Men)
Swansea v Rusco 6-1
Due to delays in arriving in Portugal,
Swansea Bay HC faced their first match without
having had the benefit of any training time on
the pitch.
This showed in their first match against
Rusco (HUN) as within 10 minutes Swansea were
one goal down. However a Jon Gordon solo effort
brought them the equaliser which was followed by
another from Tom Vinney to leave the Welshmen
2-1 up at half time. After the break Swansea
started playing some of the best hockey they
have played all year and ran away with the game
with Chris Nelson scoring two well worked short
corners and Nick Rees another. To finish off the
scoring, Tom Spencer rocketed his shot high into
the net from the top of the circle. With a final
score of 6-1 to Swansea Bay it proved to be an
excellent start to their tournament..
