Late goal seals win for Whitchurch...
Continued from 'home' page...

A goal two minutes from time from James Bainbridge gave Whitchurch a 5-4 win in a thrilling encounter at Plymouth Marjon in the EHL National South. Goals in the first quarter from Jon Collis and Alex Keating gave Whitchurch a 2-1 lead for most of the half but Plymouth scored shortly before the interval and immediately afterwards to leave the Welshmen chasing the game at 3-2 down. Jon Collis capped a fine game by completing his hat trick with two goals in three minutes midway through the second period to restore Whitchurch’s lead, only for former Welsh International Clive O’Sullivan to equalise for Plymouth from a penalty stroke with seven minutes remaining. A fine game was heading for a draw before Bainbridge’s dramatic last gasp winner gave Whitchurch the three points, keeping the pressure on second-placed Oxted, who beat bottom club Cambridge University 5-0. Whitchurch play mid table Barford Tigers at home this Saturday (1.30 start at Welsh Institute of Sport).
