Llandrindod Wells and Dinefwr A’r Fro win at U15 Brecon Tournament

Seven WHU Skill Centre teams took part in a Round Robin Tournament at Brecon on Sunday 26th October, including a team from Ysgol Tre-Gib, Llandeilo, for the first time.

The tournament was organised into two pools - Pool 1 at Brecon Leisure Centre and Pool 2 at Christ College. Llandrindod Wells won Pool1 defeating Brecon 1-0 and Carmarthen A 4-0. Dinefwr A’r Fro won Pool 2 defeating Tre-Gib and Carmarthen B, but losing to Swansea.

WHU Skill Centres aim to increase hockey participation and skills levels, and are a good environment for developing coaches. They are coordinated by WHU Hockey Development Officers and typically run for 8-10 weeks, culminating in a tournament to give participants and coaches something to aim for. The Brecon Tournament was organised by Powys Hockey Development Officer: Katie Hamer. The tournament also featured three newly qualified young umpires, including WHU Youth Hockey Activators Alison Jones and Ruth Morgan, who received umpire mentoring from Jen Barton and Karen Evans.
