RAF U-14 Schools Finals
NEWI, Wrexham

Pool A proved to be a very close encounter with the semi finalists not known until the final match. Porthcawl needed to beat Presceli to qualify and despite scoring first they could not keep their momentum going and it was to be Presceli that took the pool winners slot in winning 4-1 with Bishopston taking second place. LLanidloes won all three matches to comfortably win Pool B with Rydal Penrhos edging out West Mon.
The semi finals seemed to prove that Pool B had been the tougher pool with both teams winning their matches although Presceli ran Rydal close before going down 1-2. Llanidloes came through unscathed against Bishopston in scoring three times without reply.
The final was always likely to be close and although Rydal opened the scoring, Llanidloes soon equalised to end the first half
level. Rydal once again took the lead against the run of play and when they scored their third, Llanidloes squandered a number of chances before pulling a goal back. Rydal Penrhos were not to be beaten however and hung on for a well-deserved victory.
Councillor Joan Lowe, Mayor of Wrexham CBC, presented the trophies and make special mention of all those who had helped to make the day such a success, including Delyth Jones, Wrexham CBC, Sue Jackson, Rachel Hawker, Dave Leighton, Alan Brookes and Kate Oultram.
