RAF Development Days
20th and 24th February 2006

This year’s RAF Development Days, held at RAF Valley and RAF St Athan on Monday 20th and Friday 24th February were extremely successful, and, despite the obstructing snow, saw over 70 children of primary and secondary school age attend.

Both days, which were hosted and funded by the Royal Air Force, gave budding hockey players the opportunity to develop their hockey skills, take part in an SAQ fitness session and team building session delivered by RAF officers, and then put their skills into practice in a hockey tournament. Players also had the opportunity to learn more about the vocational opportunities available to them with the RAF.

The hockey skills were delivered by WHUL Youth Hockey Activators, who are currently on a programme which provides them with support to develop their coaching, umpiring and hockey development skills.

The development days were thoroughly enjoyed by both staff and players, and Welsh Hockey Union Limited would like to extend their gratitude to the RAF who kindly hosted these events, thereby allowing us to offer this fantastic opportunity to our players free of charge.
