Whitchurch 2, Exeter University 3
After their fine recent form Whitchurch slipped to a disappointing 3-2 defeat at Exeter University in the Slazenger EHL on March 3rd. The students have surged to third place in the table after a string of good results but Whitchurch matched them well in the first period, goals by Rhys Thomas from a penalty corner and James Bainbridge in open play giving them a 2-1 half time lead.  Exeter, though, started the second period strongly, equalising after five minutes of the restart and scoring the all-important winning goal from a penalty corner with just fifteen minutes left. Whitchurch are at home to third from bottom Plymouth Marjon this Sunday (1.30 start at the Welsh Institute of Sport) and will be looking for a win to consolidate their aim for a top half finish in the league.
