Llanidloes win U15 Development Centre Tournament

11th December 2007
Eight U15 Girls Teams took part in a round robin tournament at Brecon Leisure Centre on Sunday 25th November.  The teams were made up of players who have attended 6-10 week hockey development centres run by WHU Development Officers.  These Centres are designed to attract more young people into hockey by providing a block of quality coaching and the prospect of an exciting tournament at the end.  Some players will already be members of clubs and those that aren’t are informed of local clubs that they can join.  Swansea and Llanidloes negotiated tough pools and the semi finals to contest the final, which was eventually won 1-0 by Llanidloes in extra time.  Brecon defeated Ammanford 1-0 in the 3rd v 4th play off.  The teams from Carmarthen, LLandrindod, Caerphilly and Ystradgynlais, all put in strong performances, picking up points in the pool games, but failing to reach the semi finals.
