WHUA GRADINGS & QUALIFICATIONS

Umpire Coach - Level 1

This Award Scheme is an introductory accreditation aimed at those who would like to play a part in developing the skills of hockey umpires within their club or region either indoor or outdoor.

To become a Level One Umpire Coach candidates need to:

Attend a coach assessment seminar at a club or regional event that is decided by the North or South Umpiring Association;

Coach umpires under the supervision of an assessor – who will be a Level Two or Three Umpire Coach. Coaching can be with a group or individual umpires;

Provide concise written coaching notes for umpires who are being coached;

Level One Umpire Coaches must renew their registration every five years. To renew, existing coaches should demonstrate ongoing involvement in coaching commensurate with the Level One Award and keep a logbook of related activity. The logbook will need to be produced for verification whenever an authorised representative of the regional association or committee requires it;

Attend a refresher seminar at least once every five years.
