Changes to Rules of Hockey and of Indoor Hockey

The FIH have very recently announced some minor changes to the above rules which take effect for international competition from 1st January 2011. However, so as not to have to introduce changes midway through a domestic season and also bearing in mind that any combined England/Wales leagues will be using the new rules from 1st September, it has been agreed the changes will take effect in all domestic outdoor 11-a-side and all indoor hockey also from 1st September 2010. New rule books will be issued to all clubs when they are available from the FIH which is likely to be at the end of September with umpires to be advised by the WHUA direct. The WHUA South Region will be holding their usual pre-season meeting in September when these changes will be discussed. In the event of any queries please contact the WHUA Secretary, Carolyn Llewellyn at [email protected]. The changes are detailed in the document below.

WHUL AGM

Members will be aware from July's EGM that this years AGM will be held at two sites on Sunday 19th September. Starting at 14:00 at Sport Wales National Centre, Cardiff and Sport Wales Regional Centre, Deeside, the Agenda is available below. One of the major items on the Agenda is the election of 3 Directors. The number of elected Directors was increased at the EGM from 4 to 5 to allow for an additional Director so as the balance of the Board remained with the 'membership elected' Directors. The new Director's role will cover the specific area of Development to allow for additional strategic work in this area, given its size and scope, and will be in addition to the existing Development Director's input. Nominations for the three Directors positions are therefore invited along with that of President. Further information together with application forms are available to download below.
