Dust settles on Euros in Wrexham

As the dust settles on the Euro Hockey Nations Tournament held in Wrexham, many, many people have taken away some extremely positive memories. In a note from the European Hockey Federation President to the WHU President, he said ‘Just a note to congratulate you and Welsh Hockey on an excellent tournament at Wrexham… it was a great week in a wonderful setting and with a great atmosphere’.  Notes of thanks continue to flood in from players, nations, officials, supporters, dignitaries and the Sports Council for Wales.

Wales Bronzed

Wales Senior Men played some exquisite hockey to take the bronze medal on the final day of the EuroNations Trophy at Wrexham. EHF President Martin Gothridge hailed the competition, its organisation and presentation as an unqualified success!

The Welsh boys had a great first 15 minutes but were unable to convert their 3 penalty corners into goals. In contrast Ireland scored from their only short corner. Final score: Wales 0, Ireland 1.

UK School Games arrives in South Wales

Come and show your support for Wales’s team at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Cardiff! The UK School Games Opening Ceremony featuring an athlete parade, interviews with sport stars and live entertainment is FREE to the public and will be held in the Oval Basin, Cardiff Bay 20.30 - 21.30 on Thursday 3rd September.

Success for North Wales Summer Camp!

The Glyndwr University Hockey Summer Camp took place from the 18th-21st August with 29 boys and girls between 11-16 years of age enjoying a week of top coaching and fun activities. The players trained on the international standard water-based pitch at the University, which was fresh from hosting the Euro Hockey Trophy two weeks earlier.

Calling all WHUA umpires! It’s AGM time!!

The WHUA are holding their AGM at 11:00 on Sunday 27 September 2009 at the Brynafon Country House, Rhayader. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the new rules, discipline etc after the AGM and a buffet lunch.

All WHUA affiliated umpires are invited to attend.

Volunteers on top form at Wrexham

The junior inter Performance Development Centre competition took place this morning. Under 14 boys and girls teams participating from the N East, North Wales Coast and North Powys PDCs took to the EuroNations pitch ahead of this afternoon's action.
